Today we make a year!

"Distance is not for the fearful, it is for the bold. Its for those who are willing to spend a lot of time alone in exchange for a little time with the one they love. Its for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don't see it nearly enough"

I've always said I would NEVER get into a long distance relationship, it just seemed too hard, and I've seen relationships that have tried the distance thing and it just didn't work.  I 've also always said that I would NEVER date a fijian.  Not that I didn't like them, hello I'm half!  I just never met one that I would of even thought of dating.  (everyone thinks just because your fijian than your cousins lol)  From the beginning I already knew Puchi was different and this whole relationship was going to be different. I was doing 2 things I said I would NEVER do, and I was okay with that because I was open to trying something different, and I'm glad I took that chance.  (obviously what I was doing before wasn't working lol)  I can say from experience that long distance relationship's are not easy but nothing in life comes easy, especially the good things in life. We don't see each other as often as we wish we could but when you know you have a good thing you won't let it go, even when things get hard.   ("good things come to those who wait")   I've honestly NEVER put this much effort into a relationship because no one was ever worth it, and I'm not just saying that, I've met enough "fwams" to know a good thing when I see it.  Puchi is worth the distance, the wait, ALL of it!  We've made it this far because we NEVER gave up on each other.  Even though were not together at the moment and we haven't been most of this year, it's only temporary, so HAPPY ONE YEAR LAIJIA love you!

September 17, 2010 (day after)

A year ago today   (09.16.10)   was the first time we were together since we made it known we were "in a relationship."  So, how did we meet?  We met VERY CAREFULLY. lol  We started talking 6 months earlier   (that's March, if you don't want to count)   when we were both visiting Hawaii.   (I came from Utah for one of my best friends wedding and Puchi came from California to spend time with his cousin who came home from his mission)   I guess you can say it was the "Bulaloha" spirit which sparked our friendship lol.  Eventually Puchi had to go back to Cali and I went back to Utah    (I was waiting for him to ask me for my number before he left but he didnt, and I didnt want to be the one to ask for his lol)  so we parted as "just friends."  (we still talk about how he should have or I should have asked but oh well were together now lol)
We kept in touch through facebook once in awhile, and one night we were on IM and we were on there for awhile, to the end of our conversation he finally asked me for my number!  We would text every so often, until the weekend of July 4th, I was in Vegas and we never stopped texting the whole time I was there, I started to notice I would get excited when I got a text from him. We talked about March and how we shoulda, coulda, woulda and decided that instead of wishing we did something different in March we should do something now and just see where this all goes and that's how we became "in a relationship" lol    (if it's on facebook, it's official right? haha).

I still remember when and how I told my dad, it was the 1st week of August, we were in Utah driving back to Orem from Iosepa, I was so scared and nervous because I've NEVER told my dad about anything to do with a guy before because I just didn't lol I've only told mom things and I wouldn't just tell my dad about anyone unless I was sure he was worth telling, and I was.  Puchi was different than all the rest, I could tell by the way he talked to me, there was something about him I wasn't use too but I liked it.   (In high school my dad told my brother's they weren't allowed to have a girlfriend til after their mission, little did he know tho lol and I wasn't sure if his rule applied to me too haha)   It was a long drive and I was texting Puchi telling him "I'll tell him in 30 minutes," he kept telling me to tell my dad already but I tried to time it for when we were almost to Orem so I wouldn't have to sit in the car long, answering 21 questions.    (this is kind of how the conversation went...)

ME; Dad, do you know Selai....Lesu?
DAD; Yeah, her husband is from Lau
ME; Oh....(long pause)....I'm dating her son
DAD; WHAT!? What son? That's your cousin.
ME; What? not even!
DAD; What son?
ME; Puchi, he's the youngest, he's my age
(my younger brother and sister in the backseat....Puchi? lol)
DAD; How did you even meet him?
ME; When I came down in March, he was down there too
DAD; (shaking his head) I'm gonna talk to his dad
LOL and just to set things straight, we are NOT COUSINS my dad will say that about anyone just so his daughters don't date anyone lol and people have asked me if we were cousins just because were fijian. No, we are  NOT COUSINS lol

16-2=14 weeks

"The secret to patience is doing something else in the meanwhile."

I've been so busy trying to stay on top of my school work so I haven't had the chance to blog til now.  Our first 2 weeks of school came and went and I can't wait for this semester to be over with already!  (14 more weeks)

After I graduated from high school I never went off to college because I was so over school and wanted a break.  My parents kept pushing me to go but I just didn't know what I wanted to get into.  After 3 years went by I decided I wanted to get into the medical field and I started my first semester in the fall of 2010.   ("Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.- Earl Nightingale")   I am now working on finishing my pre req's to get into a Radiologic Technology Program.   (a 2 year program)   I've been trying to load up on my classes to finish faster, so I hope to be done with my pre reqs by the end of summer 2012.    ("You've got to get up every morning with determination if you're going to go to bed with satisfaction." -George Horace Lorimer)   I may be in school for awhile but I'm determined to finish what I started and get my Associate in Science in Radiologic Technology degree.  (and later get my bachelors)

Puchi's a senior this year and it's also his last season playing college football.  His first game was yesterday   (Sept.3)   against Arkansas Tech.   (The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.- Moliere)    After his game he told me they were losing 31-10 and came back in the 4th quarter and won 38-31!    (yayyy WEEVILS!!)   Puchi still wants football to be a part of his life after he graduates,  (May 2012)   so he's working towards getting a degree which will help him land a coaching job.   (I asked him what the degree was called and he said "IDK" lol)

We've been a part for awhile now, we last saw each each other during spring break in Cali.  It's been hard but with school starting up again it has helped keep us both pretty busy, and pass time a lot faster.    ("Between you and every goal that you wish to achieve, there is a series of obstacles, and the bigger the goal, the bigger the obstacles. Sometimes your greatest asset is simply your ability to stay with it longer than anyone else."- Brian Tracy")    The past month our phone calls may have been less, our text's may not have been responded to as quickly, but it's not the end of the world, at the end of every day WE know what WE have, WE  know what WE want and WE know were going to overcome all these obstacles WE are facing and WE are going to get to where WE want to be. =)
